Privacy notice for this website

No personal data, and nothing without your say-so. This website is a set of static pages. It has no forms, embeds no advertising or social-media widgets, and serves its fonts and images itself. The one thing it can send anywhere is anonymous usage measurement to Google Analytics, and only after you accept in the small panel that appears at the bottom of the page. Until you choose, nothing is loaded, nothing is stored and no request is made.

Two things are remembered in your own browser, using local storage rather than cookies. Neither leaves your device and neither identifies you: your theme choice (light, dark or follow-my-system) when you use the theme button, and your answer to the analytics question, stored under the key analytics-consent, so you are not asked twice. Clearing your browser's site data removes both.

What it is. Google Analytics, Google's website measurement service, configured for this site as property G-9V3GCJBWYF. It tells Commercient which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from and which browsers they use. Google Signals and advertising features are switched off, so it is not used to build advertising profiles.

What it stores. Only after you accept, Google sets these cookies on this site:

• _ga — Tells Google Analytics that separate visits come from the same browser. Kept for up to 2 years, or less where your browser limits cookie lifetimes.
• _ga_9V3GCJBWYF — Keeps the pages of one visit together for this property. Kept for up to 2 years, or less where your browser limits cookie lifetimes.

Where it sends data. The script is loaded from www.googletagmanager.com, and measurements go to www.google-analytics.com, region1.google-analytics.com, analytics.google.com, region1.analytics.google.com. Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Saying no. Choose No thanks in the panel. Nothing is loaded, no cookie is set, and your answer is remembered so you are not asked again.

Changing your mind. Press the button below. It forgets your answer, removes the Google cookies this site can reach, and reloads the page so you are asked again.

Change my analytics choice

Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages may record standard technical information in access logs (such as the IP address of the request, the page requested, the time and the browser type) for security and capacity purposes. Those logs are handled by Commercient's hosting provider under Commercient's Privacy Policy.

This site links to GitHub, npm, the Commercient Data Lake product site and commercient.com. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Downloads of the dlake binaries are served by GitHub.

This notice describes how this particular website behaves. The Commercient Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are the governing documents for Commercient LLC, including for the Commercient Data Lake \ Data Hub service itself and for any personal data you provide when you register for or use that service.

If any further data collection is ever added to this site, this notice and, where required, the consent mechanism will be updated first — in that order.

That is the order followed for Google Analytics: this page and the consent panel were written first, and the platform was switched on afterwards. The panel asks before anything is loaded, declining is remembered, and the card above names the platform, the hosts it contacts and what it stores.
